We offer a variety of services with a child-centered approach in order to help children improve their communication, feeding, behavior, and academics.
Ponte Vedra Speech, Language, and Learning is unique in that we offer a blend of licensed Speech-Language Pathology and Certified Teaching for the most effective results. We serve children in their homes or private schools in Nocatee, Florida and its surrounding areas.
Does my child need speech therapy?
If you are unsure if your child needs speech therapy, the best thing to do is to reach out to discuss the particulars with a therapist. After learning the details of your concerns, a recommendation will be made about whether or not an in-person evaluation is warranted. We welcome all concerned parents to call, and this is a free service.
How long does an evaluation take?
The length of our evaluations can range quite a bit; however, most children become tired after about an hour. We typically schedule the first visit to last one hour, and any additional sessions, if necessary, on another day. Children under 5 and those with only one type of concern (pronouncing words, for example) typically can complete diagnostics within the initial hour.
What happens after the evaluation?
After the evaluation is complete, you will receive an evaluation report for your records. If the results from the evaluation indicate that your child would benefit from speech therapy, a plan of care will be outlined and regular weekly sessions will be offered.
How often are the regular appointments?
Therapy appointments typically last 30 minutes. While the amount of sessions per week varies depending on the child’s age and plan of care, many attend for two sessions per week.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Most pediatric speech and language services are covered by insurances. We currently accept most local insurance companies, including:

- United (commercial plans and medicaid)
- UMR
- Multi-Plan (inluding PHCS and Mayo Florida)

“Sonya Olsen always shows patience, empathy, great communication skills and is abundantly prepared to answer any of my questions or help guide me through developmental/social concerns that arise.
Through play she has encouraged our three year old bilingual son to vocalize more and engage in conversations in English & Spanish.
There is not enough words to express the gratitude our family has for her.
I highly recommend Sonya Olsen!”
“She’s made more gains in this year of going to Ms. Sonya than she did in all of the years previously combined!”
